McCrae House

Mornington Peninsula VIC Australia

We have reborn this pavilion in the bush. The original 1960’s two-storey pole house provided a strong architectural character and enough genuine charm to warrant retention of the old house. The entire project evolved into a balanced consideration of the old and the new. The block is located close to Arthur’s seat with stunning views to Melbourne and the heads. We retained all of the towering old gum trees on the site and remodelled the old dwelling into a new Peninsula retreat.

The living spaces are spread over two levels, with the primary elevated living space equipped with a full hospitality kitchen and dining space for larger gatherings merging with the open plan lounge area and sundeck. The lower level has a kitchenette with wet-bar and is designed for a second family or alternatively a multi-purpose type space for games/TV/lounging. This lower level flows onto the pool deck and also has views to the Bay.
