Working in collaboration with Jones Lang LeSalle (Property Economics), MBM (Quantity Surveying), and Aspect Studios (Landscape Architects), the SJB team, led by Jonathan Knapp was appointed by Ku-ring-gai Council to prepare a master plan for an existing surface car parking site in Lindfield. The focus of the design development and testing stages of the project was the careful balancing of land-uses, development feasibility and the best outcome for the community.
Central to the four master plan options was a Community Hub, consisting of a library, community centre and associated open spaces, which was both hard and soft landscaping, designed by Aspect Studios. The master plans also featured various scales of residential, retail, commercial and parking, including 240 commuter parking spaces.
MBM prepared cost plans for each option, which were issued to JLL for their consideration as part of a development feasibility. A preferred master plan option was selected following a comprehensive program of community and stakeholder consultation, which included workshops, exhibitions, surveys and a project website - managed by Cred Planning.
The preferred master plan is likely to form the basis of amendments to the planning controls and briefing information for an Expression of Interest for developer partners, issued to the market in 2016.
