Planning permission was obtained for a six storey commercial building above three basement levels and engaging with three prominent streets in South Melbourne.

Shops and food and drink premises engage with all street frontages with the new generation office accommodation located above. A high standard of facilities is provided for the building’s occupants including extensive end of trip facilities, as well as a dedicated gymnasium and yoga studio.

Key planning challenges included negotiation with Council regarding the complex planning requirements set out in the relevant Design and Development Overlay. These included street wall and building heights, setbacks, architectural design and provision of rooftop services. The merit of the project was ultimately decided by VCAT.

The project is a significant one for the developer/ builder and the three frontage interface and striking architectural qualities will transform this part of South Melbourne.
