175 Burnley Street

Richmond VIC

175 Burnley Street is a significant commercial development, comprising a nine-storey building with eight levels of office and ground floor retail/restaurant tenancies to a key site in Richmond.

The project team worked hard to ensure the design responded carefully and considerately to its strategic location, resulting in a building which demonstrates how contemporary design and environmental sustainability can work harmoniously to achieve a high quality architectural and urban design response. Environmentally sustainable design was a key driver of building design since conception, resulting in the delivery of a building with a 4-star Green Star rating and a 5-star NABERS energy rating.

The building provides high levels of internal amenity for future occupants through generous access to natural daylight and ventilation, exemplary end-of-trip facilities and amenities, balconies and a rooftop terrace, to name a few. The development also incorporates numerous streetscape improvements including pedestrian focussed landscape treatments, the creation of a new pocket park and a widened verge to Burnley Street to increase street tree planting opportunities. When combined, these features contribute to the delivery of a state-of-art office facility which focuses on positive user and pedestrian experiences.

SJB Planning were instrumental in achieving an expeditious planning approval and worked closely with the City of Yarra planning officers and the local community. After much hard work and a collaborative design process, the City of Yarra planning officers recommended the development be approved, which was subsequently supported by Councillors at the City of Yarra. A Planning Permit for the development was issued by Council shortly after.
