NGV Architecture Commission

April 2018

SJB is proud to be a part of this year’s shortlist for the National Gallery of Victoria Architecture Commission Design Competition.

From 73 entries and a shortlist of 5, the competition seeks site-specific, low-impact design proposals for a temporary installation for the Grollo Equiset Garden. Design proposals can include a venue for hospitality, a performance space, a work of speculative architecture, a landscape intervention, a place designed for playful interaction, or an immersive space for reflection.

The jury comprises Corbett Lyon (chair, co-founder of Lyons Architecture and NGV trustee), Eugenia Lim (artist, board member of Next Wave and founding editor of Assemble Papers), Isabelle Toland (director of Aileen Sage Architects and a creative director of Australia’s exhibition at the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale), Stefan Preuss (Associate Victorian Government Architect), and Lisa Byrne (director of the McClelland Sculpture Park and Gallery).

The winner of the 2018 competition will be announced in late May.
