Appointment

January 2019

SJB is delighted to announce the appointment of Brodie Blades as Associate Director of SJB Urban’s Melbourne studio.

As an accomplished urban designer with a background in town planning, Brodie applies his in-depth knowledge of planning frameworks and legislation to the diverse range of projects within the studio. In particular, his extensive experience in providing urban design advice and as an expert witness at VCAT and Planning Panels Victoria, provides our clients with practical, pragmatic and independent advice that achieves the best possible outcomes.

Brodie’s appointment reflects his ongoing leadership role within the practice and his passion for strategic thinking about the future of our cities.

“During my time at SJB, I’ve come to admire the depth of talent within the team as well as the studio’s significant legacy of quality design outcomes,” says Brodie. “I am excited to be taking a leadership role in the SJB Urban design team and look forward to helping shape the studio’s future urban design legacy.”

In announcing this appointment, SJB Director Amanda Roberts said that as the practice continues to address the challenges of urban development within a rapidly evolving context, the need to recognise and nurture future leaders is a crucial factor in the practice's continued success. “I am excited about the talent and experience that Brodie brings to the practice and look forward to the new leadership team building on past successes and expanding the business into 2019 and beyond.”
