Screen AustraliaLindfield NSW Australia
SJB Planning and SJB Urban were appointed by Screen Australia to prepare a planning proposal to seek residential rezoning of their site in Lindfield. Screen Australia is a Federal Government funding body for the Australian screen production industry and their site at present is a collection of filming studios and administrations offices. The site is located within a transitional zone between low density residential properties and the University of Technology, Sydney Ku-ring-gai campus, which is set within the landscape setting of the Lane Cove National Park.
The team prepared an extensive site and context analysis coordinating consultant inputs to inform urban design analysis. The findings from this work were translated into a set of design principles and schematic layouts were prepared testing various arrangements of density and building form. Recommendations from this work then formed the basis of the planning proposal. Community consultation events were undertaken, facilitated by Urban Concepts. Local residents and stakeholders participated in a variety of activities to explain the project and answer any concerns. The activities included site tours, presentations and questions and answer sections. Council has resolved to progress with the rezoning of site as part of the comprehensive LEP.
