Eden on the River

Abbotsford VIC Australia

The former Honeywell site, on the banks of the Yarra River and opposite Victoria Gardens Shopping Centre, is the site of one of Melbourne’s most existing mixed use, urban renewal projects.

The iconic 14,000 square metre site is to accommodate a three stage development, a joint Venture between Hamton Property Group and ISPT worth over $200 Million (approx.).

Over 500 apartments and associated commercial uses across three buildings carefully crafted to both be sensitive to and respond robustly to the adjacent Yarra River and busy Victoria Street environments.

New ‘pedestrian street’ through the site links Victoria Street and the development to the river bank. Despite being a particularly controversial development proposal (approx.1400 objections), SJB Planning and the project team worked closely with Yarra Council to deliver a development that was approved by the Council and reaffirmed by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

This project highlights the outcomes which can be achieved by close collaboration.
